03—Ensure that 250 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are operational.
Deadline: 2017
Complete
As of March 2020, 660 EV charging stations were in operation in the city.
New York City has reached this goal through multiple initiatives. In 2016, the City Council passed Local Law 160, which requires the city to install at least 25 charging stations and establish an Electric Vehicle Advisory Committee. In 2017, Mayor de Blasio announced that the city, in partnership with Con Edison, will invest $10 million to develop fast charging hubs to serve all five boroughs. And, in Mayor de Blasio’s 2020 State of City Address, he announced that the entire municipal fleet will be electric by 2040, which will likely require even more charging stations.

The city originally used the In-Season Commuter Cycling Index for this indicator, but has since stopped using it. However, according to the NYC Department of Transportation, cycling increased 55% between 2012 and 2017.
In April 2020, the city temporarily suspended organics collection due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the suspension, while some neighborhoods had the option to enroll in curbside collection, the programs did not serve all New Yorkers.
